Scotland Day Three–The First Hike

Really it was more of a walk. I broke in my new boots and gaiters with a nice three mile hike along the River Earn on Lady Mary’s Walk (although some of it was flooded) and then up the hill leading to the highlands. About three miles and one rainbow and about 175 sheep (not pictured to maintain their privacy).

After lunch I found the library in Crieff where I am staying and read some poetry (Dylan Thomas, from Wales and some Robert Burns from here in Scotland).

Soon I will settle down to my favorite meal–Beans on Toasts. Yummy.

Beautiful pictures, Peterson. I’m beginning to wonder if MadPriest has misreprestented Scotland.

I believe in the UK, you are neither walking nor hiking, but taking a “walk about”, but I’m not that familiar with the quaint dialects of those across the pond.

    Gorgeous.

I took a lovely 4 mile walk today but I passed by creeks with shopping carts and beer bottles in them. Bet you wish you were here.

This is an honest question, or maybe a challenage: Is there any kind of clothing that doesn’t look good on you?

anna hp, PLEASE, we must come up with a different soundtrack!

kj, well, you know MadPriest has a cultural geographical bias. Some Scots would call it a disability.

christine, the great thing about hikes in Scotland is that one gets moisturized at some point during the journey, quite unlike Colorado.

Alex and Willie, as two newer friends in my life, you will have to learn quickly that one of the key roles my friends play is to DECREASE the size of my head, not INCREASE it. ‘nuf said.

dragonfly, THANKS! and thanks for stopping by.

Nillo, you know it was a FULL rainbow, but it was so large I could not get it all in one picture. Today I actually walked through a rainbow. Damn, where’s the gold, ah, yes, the experience was gold enough.
