I met Marvin recently and after several conversations, I asked him to offer a series of audio blogs here. I’ll leave it at that and let him speak for himself.
My favourite simpsons quote is from Rev. Lovejoy: “I could not marry two people of the same sex any more than I could put a hamburger in a hot-dog bun.”
With arguments like that…

I spoke with Marvin about the Lovejoy/Simpson’s connection and he stated that he has never seen the Simpson’s program (some people!) and wonders if they modelled their minister on his own. From Marvin’s description of his pastor, I highly doubt it.
Marvin added that although he doesn’t go on-line, he welcomes comments to his audio posts. I will print out the comments for him.

Hi Marvin,
I think it’s great that you’re willing to offer your opinion on Peterson’s blog like this, and I can’t wait to hear what you’ve got to say. I think it’s always good to hear different voices and different opinions on things.
I wouldn’t worry too much about Peterson’s ulterior motives though, cause he may be liberal but he’s still basically a good guy, so, don’t worry.
It’s good to hear from you.

I am already a huge fan of Marvin’s. Good to know that he’s going to be something of a regular here! And since Marvin was my own dear “deddy’s” name, I was partial to Peterson’s pal from the get-go.
Hee hee. Very enjoyable. Did you know that Lovejoy was also the Rev on the Simpsons?
