Marvin Relents

In which Marvin, moved by your recent comments, acknowledges that he may have been too harsh with his mother and his former, lover Stuart. Of course he ends up insulting all of you too, but he does so in Jesus’ name.

Ohmygoodness, Marvin! I’m laughing out loud at the thought that God might be able to speak through me because he once spoke through a donkey.

Seriously, though, I’m glad that you found my experience with Brian to be meaningful.

If it turns out that I’m a talking jackass for God, no matter how rare those occasions may be, I’m happy about that, too.

I beg to differ that I was being snide. In fact, I was being very serious. If some ex-lover of mine came in white tennis shorts and shoes with a Ralp Lauren polo shirt, I’d rebuke him.

Anyway, this was a lovely post by you – very vulnerable despite the snide comments about people talking like jackasses, or something like that. 🙂

Ah, from out of the mouth of asses…

The thing that is amazing is that God speaks to me through MARVIN! Such an unlikely prophet.

Marvin, I realize that I don’t know anything about your friendship with Peterson (maybe you can fill us in on that some time), but perhaps he’s being a bit flippant when he says he’s surprised to find God speaking to him through you.

Since I’ve asked you, I’ll fill in the blanks on my side: I found info about Peterson’s HomoNoMo show on a webpage in late 2003, talked to him via email, and went to see the show.

His show was an amazing gift to me that night, and it’s been special to me to stay in touch with him. I don’t know if I was the first person to tell him he HAD to get in touch with Steve Schalchlin (another amazing, independent artist), but one of the gifts I’ve gotten this week is seeing photos of Peterson and Schack (Steve’s nickname) together, because they are some of the coolest creative folks I’ve met.

Anyway, Marvin, I don’t know how I’ve gotten so far off-track, but what I really wanted to say after reading Peterson’s comment is that you speak to me in a profound way, too, regardless of whether it is specifically God’s words channeled through you or something else, like God’s energy or God’s love.

Be well, my friend… (And if Peterson gets uppity and sensitive because I talk to you more than him, don’t worry about it – he’ll get over it.)

P.S. Marvin, it occurs to me that it’s not fair of me to listen to you stumbling over the pronunciation of my last name and not clarify.

Just imagine that Bozo The Clown had a nephew that everyone called Bozie.

BO-zee, but spelled Boese, that’s my name. And, some friends just call me Bose (pronounced Boze). It all works.
