Marvin — Back At You!

In which Marvin responds directly to your recent comments. From fruit trees of the Holy Spirit to English schoolboy uniforms, Marvin covers bold new territory and provides intuitive analysis of the lives of his international audience. It is the happiest I’ve heard Marvin in weeks.

Hi Marvin! It’s Jon in Iowa City again. Jonathan in California isn’t the only parent here. My partner and I are foster and pre-adoptive parents of 5- and 13-year-old boys. I’m also a member of my church’s council, I substitute teach in my church’s nursery, and lead a fitness program at my church. We’re gay men, but we’re hardly the most decadent couple in the world.

    Oh Marvin…

Thank you for the great laugh today! Someday we’ll chat about my “wife”!

Jon…how the heck do you do it? Would love to chat.

The fruit trees sound like a great idea, Marvin! One for each of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. That’s a great idea. I might suggest that at my parish. (The landscaping there is kind of uninspired.)

I have no problems listen to english, my problem is writing. But it seems like you understood my comment so maybe I should try more often.

I love the idea with the fruit trees. I will save it in my hart until we get a garden of our own.

I have three children, 5, 4 and almost 2 yrs old. I am a gay transman and gave birth to them before my change. So both me and my partner are the biological parents.

    God bless you Marvin!

Alex, I have been thinking of your comments all day. What integrity, committment, courage for you and your partner to walk through transition together and raise your children. Really inspiring.

I haven’t announced it yet on my site, but I will be in Sweden in September. I’ll be in Malmö for their gay festival doing some shows and workshops. Don’t know if it is close to where you live, but would love to meet you and your family.

I will be sure that Marvin hears all about your family. He is getting an education he didn’t count on.

    Good morning P/M,

I didn’t get the chance to post before the shout-out audio blog came on, but I do want to tell you that I’m from Connecticut! Which diminishes the international flavor of things, but, what the heck.

I also join the other parents on this board… I have 4! Ages 16, 13 (boys), 11 and 7 (girls). All of whom think Marvin is baffling but funny.

This blog’s audience is just crawling with parents! 🙂

Jon, you said it. Seems Marvin has encouraged all the parents to come out. Really I had no idea so many of you have children. I hope that Dr. Dobson is reading and getting some updated material on us queer folk.

Marvin doesn’t even mention me. We’ll see if he’s invited back to my podcast!

OMG, Marvin, I’m so far behind! I’m really sorry I’ve not kept up with your audioblogs, I’ve been really busy drawing comics, and I can’t listen to your audioposts in work, which is where I do most of my blogchecking.

I’m going through your posts now though, so I’m catching up.

And, yay, lots of parents. I’m not a parent. Unless you count my boyfriend. ^_^
