Performance artist, podcast, and educator, Peterson Toscano

Peterson will spend two days with the students and faculty at Friends School in their amazing new super eco-friendly building. He will join students in classes as well as offer a public presentation (details to be announced).

Peterson’s School Presentations

Having taught at the innovative Watkinson School in Hartford, CT, Peterson facilitates learning opportunities that foster critical thinking and creativity. He is particularly skilled at connecting content and themes from multiple disciplines thus aiding students in higher levels of learning. He will bring his whole self to Friends School of Portland–a quirky, queer, Quaker concerned about LGBTQ issues, ethics, and justice in a time of climate change.

As the host of the Climate Stew podcast, Peterson connects well with middle school and high school students, who enjoy the silliness he brings to serious topics. They also like the many characters transformations he makes in his performance work. Peterson expertly explores the intersections of climate change science with human rights, history, and our favorite foods. He has spent time in many schools including the Moses Brown School, Sidwell Friends School, Westtown School, and the George School.

Who is Peterson Toscano?

Peterson's unique ability to bring his audiences with him on his theatrical journeys makes people feel at ease, whether they are familiar with the subject matter or not. I have seen him perform to mesmerized groups of 11 year olds, huge crowds of festival-going adults, living-room party gatherings, and in crowded pubs; whatever the venue or demographic, Peterson is able to read the room and involve his audience in a way that makes them feel part of his show- we laugh, we cry, we laugh a bit more, and we always leave with a lot to think about. Don't miss an opportunity to have him perform in your town!
