Doin’ Time on BBC Radio London

Yesterday I had a live interview with Jumoke Fashola on the Inspirit program.

Tackling the whole spectrum of religious and ethical opinion, Jumoke is joined in the studio each week with a guest from one of London’s faith communities to address the stories making headlines each week.

Each week a guest with a personal tale to tell comes in to explore their relationship with faith, be that a journey of self-discovery or a campaign to improve the lives of others.

The programme appeals to listeners’ sense of curiosity, spirituality and humanity and invites them to get involved whatever their belief or experience.  We hear stories of personal sacrifice, joy and redemption, struggle and tragedy, and together we try and make sense of them.

Jumoke was very keen on knowing about Transfigurations–Transgressing Gender in the Bible. For those of you who don’t know it is a play about transgender and gender-variant Bible characters. I enjoyed the genuine wonder she expressed at this new material and the insightful and challenging questions she asked. You can listen to a recording of the program here. It starts at about 1 hour 33 minutes into the program, and the recording will be up for about a week.

This week I am in London and Southampton and then I head North for the weekend for performances next week in Manchester, Lincoln, and Bradford. I also just added to the schedule a performance at Queens University in Belfast for the end of the month. You can view the complete schedule here.
